District bank examiner Claude Gatch took possession with bank directors and inspected assets. He said no statement could be made today and would report to the comptroller, while confidence returns and other banks report strong business. The timing of a receivership remains uncertain, potentially three days to three weeks.
Senator Gearin, who speaks tonight in the opera house, was met this morning at the train by Attorney John Hodgin who escorted him to the depot. He was met by friends and is no stranger in La Grande.
