Walter Obms, 20, son of Mr and Mrs William Obms, was found dead near a windmill on his family's ranch outskirts of Elgin after a rifle discharged during a morning trip to inspect coyote traps. Authorities consider death may be accidental or caused by a seizure, with suicide unlikely due to epilepsy history.
The Bureau of American Republics announces the fourth international conference of Western hemisphere republics will meet in Buenos Ayres Argentina from July 15 to 30. Delegates aim to secure broader acceptance of shared rules while learning from earlier conferences.
The fourth Pan American conference topics include compulsory arbitration, special treaties, and a Pan American railway, postal rates, and census statistics. Discussions cover wireless telegraphy, aerial navigation, fair immigration methods, and neutrality in wartime. The United States has already pursued regional treaties with eleven republics.

Patrick Rafferty a New York bricklayer killed his wife and wounded his mother in law during a family dispute. He slashed his wife then his brother in law and tried to kill himself but survived. Police found him crouched beside his dead wife with the razor in hand.
Ed Kiddle the Island City flouring mill man and a prominent Mason returned last night on the delayed No 6 from a month long business visit in the South and East. In Savannah he attended the Grand Lodge meeting of Georgia Masons and the dedication of the Baltimore Masonic Temple. The trip proved interesting for business and lodge study with notable Mason contacts nationwide.
A Japanese liner Kisagata Maru was wrecked off Shimonoshi during a multi day gale. All on board are reported lost with twenty five bodies washing ashore. Government patrols are searching the coast for more remains as storm fury eased.
A group of six bandits entered a Collins store and ordered clerks and customers to lie still as they looted cash and valuables. Four robbers guarded the victims while two gathered the loot, netting about four thousand dollars. The search for the suspects continues.

The lighthouse tender Manzanilla reached Astoria at noon with Captain Snyder and nine Argo crewmen who were marooned at the Columbia river mouth after the Argo sank last Saturday morning. The crew said the wreck occurred when the starboard propeller broke.
Under Water Superintendent Harry Gilman a crew lays 1500 feet of water pipes on North Fourth Street adding two hydrants and extending protection by five blocks. The expansion covers the area where a July Fourth fire destroyed a home and hindered hose access. Half the trench is dug and completion is expected in a few days.
After three pleasant months touring America the Japanese Commercial Commission sails home on the Chiyo. Baron Shibusawa, head of the commission, telegraphs to President Taft expressing gratitude for hospitality and warm wishes for the United States and its prosperity.
William Moldrop, a ringside spectator, collapsed and died after the 14th round of the 20 round mill fight between Anselm Wolgast and Lew Powell in San Francisco. The event followed Wolgast’s victory, marking him as a strong challenger to Battling Nelson. Powell offered no resistance. The death occurred at the emergency hospital shortly after the collapse.
