Fire swept through Austin yesterday morning gutting the uptown hotel and leaving a once thriving inland business center erased. Reports say several arson attempts have occurred over the past fortnight, but this time the blaze could not be stopped before spreading.
A large private irrigation plan in Umatilla county is revealed by O D Teo of Eoho. It seeks £5000 miners inches of water from Camas creek to supply Butter Creek district and irrigate 25 000 acres of land. The project runs along the edge of Umatilla and Morrow counties, affecting Pendleton East Oregon. Water would be diverted from Camas creek north branch near the junction with Hidaway creeks.
The text lists a land boundary description: township 4 south range 33 BR WM and the balance of 50 miles to reach township 3 north range 29 EM, noting paths via canals flumes or pipelines as needed.
