In Salem Oregon Ben Goldstein 47 was shot in the street by J Danna 23 assistant engineer of the Willamette Traction Company. Danna later killed himself at the asylum farm after fleeing the scene following an arrest for Goldstein’s earlier ejectment from a barn.
Norfolk reports the wireless operator at Cape Henry received a message from the battleship Louisiana bearing Roosevelt aboard en route to Panama. The message stated nothing amiss and that all is well, with several further messages sent from the ship.
