Taft Carries Oregon by Large Plurality in Partial Returns

Complete returns from 16 of 34 Oregon counties show Taft with a 15 325 lead and a total plurality near 25 000 after 3/5 of the vote counted Debs Chafin and Hisgen together about 16 000 with Debs around 7 000 Chafin 2 500 and Hisgen 600 Taft carried every county in the state and Marion county stands as a Republican stronghold. Salem reports an unofficial count shows nearly 1 000 more votes for senator than for president in June compare with last Tuesday’s election.
