Pan American Peace Temple Dedicated in Washington
Washington dedicates the Pan American Peace Temple as a symbol of peace commerce and friendship. The $1 million structure funded by Andrew Carnegie and the twenty one American republics features a 100 by 200 foot marble exterior, a glass-roofed courtyard, and a 102 by 70 foot assembly hall for international conferences. President Taft and Carnegie planted a peace tree during the dedicatory ceremonies.
