The United States hydrographic office calls on shipmasters and correspondents to observe meteorological conditions and comet related effects. They should note tail length and color, needle variations, unusual deflections, and electromagnetic disturbances on wireless gear, especially May 16 to 20 with peak May 18.
The watch officer should log meteorite observations with time size direction and duration while noting ship head and antenna direction. The note should record the meteorite occurrence at the time noted and report if observed. Scattered amateur wireless plants and commercial operators should cooperate with the hydrographic office and keep recommended records.
The northern Baptist convention at the University of Chicago May 6 through 13 will use theater bleachers as a fire escape. Bartlett gymnasium, condemned as a convention hall, will host meetings with two bleacher sections moved back and a platform bridging the gap. Ten high windows will become doors to the platform for access. Three thousand delegates are expected.
