Baker City gears up for a large Fourth of July event with extra trains from Homestead via Huntington and North Powder. A. S. Ashley of the Baker City Commercial Club touts horse races ball games open air dancing and nonstop amusements with a flying machine as the special feature for the Fourth and Fifth.

Beet sugar 6.75, onions 2c, parsnips 2.5c, spinach 25c for 3, asparagus 25c for 3 lb, tomatoes 10c, new potatoes 2.65 per 3 lb, oranges 40c dot, lemons 35c, bananas 40c, strawberries 15c per box, cherries 2s for 25c, hogs 10 per cwt, cows 2.4c, veal 4 to 4.5c, mutton 6.5c, poultry chickens 16c, turkeys 20-21c, eggs 26-27c. Wheat futures nominal 79-82c, flour patents 5.15.
The Chautauqua board plans a two day junket starting Monday to tour Union County. A caravan will depart La Grande at 9 o'clock Monday to promote the Chautauqua, visiting Hot Lake Union Cove Summerville Elgin Alicel Imbler and Island City. Women on the board join the trip and many others may go.
