United States Marshal Terry arrested Chas. Carsten proprietor of the Baker City Dyke works on a charge of sworn falsely in proving a desert land claim in Colorado in 1903. A preliminary hearing was held before U S Land Commissioner C A Moore and bonds were set at 1000 cash. Carsten, a Baker resident for seven years, is said to conduct his business quietly and is well regarded locally while his case awaits federal court appearance.
