Indictments Returned in Umatilla Land Fraud Case
Federal grand jury returns seven true bills accusing Pendleton and Umatilla county residents of conspiring to defraud the government of 30 000 acres of land. Indicted are J H Raley John W Crow John Vert William Slusher William Rahe J H Raley along with several others including Knotts Wynn Caldwell Mathews Olmstead and Rees. Warrants issued by Judge Wolverton placed with federal marshals for service and most defendants expected to be arraigned in federal court within days.
