County jail has been entirely empty since June 7 with no inmates. Two former occupants escaped and remain unfound, the third freed by a grand jury, marking one of the longest periods of criminal detention absence in Union County.

The Pacific Express Company announces its decision to cease express and forwarding business in Oregon. The Nebraskan company, with principal operations in St. Louis Missouri and Portland Oregon, has deposited 50 000 with Oregon treasurer and will withdraw after six months from first publication, December 1 1910, if no claims are filed. James Eggleston, president, signs the notice dated May 23 1910.
