Federal Judge DeHaven denied Senator Mitchell's motion for a new trial and for arrest of judgment. Defendants' attorneys stated they would file a bill of exceptions for appeal.
County commissioner at Prinville and a co defendant with a congressman testified that funds paid for filings on fraudulent entries came as checks drawn on the firm Williamson Gener during cross examination this morning in the land fraud case.
Four men were killed and several injured in a powder explosion at the Dominion Cartridge Company arsenal in Brownsburg near Ottawa. The deceased are Stephen Cruthers John Martin Thomas Charlebers and Napoleon Lamarche.
South Bend report says 11 men were arrested for wholesale robberies of cargo on the Grand Trunk railroad near Stilwell in Laporte county. Merchandise valued at 370,000 dollars has been taken.

San Jose July 15 A wealthy robed San Francisco paint manufacturer was shot dead last night at his country home above Alma Hue ter after a quarrel in which he threatened to kill his wife. She shot him in the back of the neck as they retired, killing him instantly.
