The City Council of La Grande Oregon in 1910 announces an improvement district for Adams Avenue from Fourth Street east to Alder Street. A special assessment will be levied to cover an estimated cost of 12000 dollars. A public hearing on July 20, 1910 will consider costs and the levy.
City engineering statement says sewer costs will be met by abutting owners reducing it to about 1 cent per foot. Council members absent included Church Fleming Kreiger. Sutherlin bid about $2,000 for 800 feet deemed not prohibitive since pipe not included. Public remonstrances noted. district concerns over water use and high tyre costs. Mayor Meyers stressed public health and uniform system. Several side items: Eastern Oregon Light and Fuel contract changes, Cherry street crossing petition, Darley drafting bill approved, and Sixth street paying petition tabled.
Notice is given that ATE Van Der Meulen is appointed executor of the last will of Jacob Van Der Meulen deceased by the County Court of Union County Oregon. All claims must be presented to Cochran & Cochran La Grande Oregon with vouchers within six months from date. Dated La Grande July 1 1910.
In Union county Circuit Court Ida Benton files for dissolution of marriage against Bert Benton. Defendants must answer within six weeks from first publication. If no answer, court may grant divorce and costs. Published in La Grande Weekly Observer starting July 7 1910 by order of Judge J W Knowles. Eugene Ashwell attorney for plaintiff.
