In 1907 the Merchants of Oregon saved over $10,000 by carrying part of their insurance in their own company, the Oregon Merchants Mutual Fire Insurance Association of Dayton. In 1908 they expect savings of $15,000 while neighbors paid $1,500,000 in profits to outside firms. In the mutual plan you get insurance at cost a limit to your liabilities prompt settlement of losses.
