Delay on Hood River road and Sumpter Valley railroad extension
Hood River reports preliminary plans for extending the Hood River road up the valley and linking with the Sumpter Valley line to meet at Prineville. Surveyors under Engineer Joseph A. West work on the Hood River extension with a steam shovel at Dee. The Sumpter Valley extension through Canyon City is discussed but not expected this year due to rail costs and labor conditions.
