Snowstorm Clamps Wallowa County With Heavy Snow
A storm dumped thirty inches in Wallowa County since February 1 while two trains were held on a hill for hours. No freight moved as Duncan saw ten inches and Kamela twenty four inches fall in two hours this morning.

Yesterday morning the last train to Wallowa faced slides and heavy snow in the canyon. The Galloway cut two miles below Elgin is blocked by snow making through traffic impossible. Death of pioneer Mrs. B Brown marks Union county history
Mrs. Frances Kirk Brown, born 1896 in Yorkshire, England, wife of the late Ben Brown, died at 6 15 this morning after a long illness. The Browns crossed the plains by ox wagon in 1860 and settled in what is now La Grande, building the first house in the county and cooking the first meal in the valley. Survived by five daughters, all in Union county.

Mrs Brown Dies After Illness at Island City
A long illness preceded the death of Mrs. Brown who passed away after months of infirmity. She leaves five daughters Hester Elleworth Ada Waltra Al He Conley Fanny Brown and Carrie Garrity along with 19 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. The funeral is set for tomorrow at 1 PM from the family home in Island City with Rev. Upton H. Gibbs officiating.
