Grande Ronde apples stored by Stackland Bros. with only 1 percent decay in 10 carloads shipped to Colorado and Wyoming. Prices on the road cars are reported 100 percent higher than last fall, signaling growing profitability as winter months pass.
The Oregon Pacific Railroad and Navigation Company plans to equip yard tracks with stone yard blocks like those used on the main line. The change aims to improve safety as switch engines operate at distance from centers of yards. Completion near Troutdale will extend blocking from Huntington to Portland, enabling yard service installation here. A veteran from Kemp Texas recalls a near fatal illness and credits Dr King’s New Discovery with restoring health. Chamberlain’s Stomach and Liver Tablets are recommended for stomach trouble by Mr. J. P. Klote of Edina Missouri.
Mrs. W. G. Gibson of Lexington Kentucky reports her one year old daughter suffered severe bronchitis after an October 18 illness. Peniflton Jan 26. The Oregon state senate backs Dr Cole's plan for health exams before marriage. The bill would require payment for the exam by the county if the applicant is too poor. The senate sent the measure back to committee to strike the county payment provision. The vote split over making marriage cheaper and funds for exams. Dr Cole also backs a bill against high school fraternities and sought a hearing for fraternity issues.
