Reports from Scripps News Association describe renewed riots in Russia sparked by priests after a deadly massacre. Five hundred lives lost and government efforts to crush a telegraph strike progress slowly as communications fail and soldiers prepare for further action.
The Senate approved the Panama canal bonds measure with full rights and privileges. Representative Loud, a former naval officer, seeks a House Naval Affairs Committee inquiry into hazing at the Naval Academy. President nominates Mills for New Mexico Supreme Court and Parker and McPig as associate justices. Surveyors near Kiona plan a Yakima crossing toward Wallula on a direct North Coast route. Twenty-year wedding anniversary celebrated by Mr and Mrs W H Bull near Summerville with guests from La Grande including G E Fowler.
United States Attorney Delvin said he will vigorously prosecute violations of Interstate Committee laws and has called Sacramento and San Francisco merchants to aid in gathering evidence. A federal grand jury is to convene in San Francisco next Monday to hear these matters. He expects to hear from Attorney General Moody in a few days.
Congressman Longworth, overwhelmed with telegrams and messages, says the Roosevelt family handles wedding plans. He cannot confirm official notification timing and notes a brief stay in Washington before possibly touring Europe. He plans to live in Cincinnati and expects no serious family troubles over political differences with the President.
Chicago December 14. The federal court adjourned at noon with only one juror accepted by the defense in the Walker case. The defense challenged the other two jurors, charging government unfairness. Walker, formerly of Madison Illinois, was the defendant.

The G A R conference has decided to hold the national encampment in Minneapolis starting August 15. Local organizers expect attendees from across the region for the event.

HAL. EYE BADLY INJURED D. J. Ferris of Old Town met a peculiar accident last evening while chopping wood. A stick flew up striking the chin above the eye and rupturing a血 vessel. Doctors Bacon and Hall attended and expect possible vision restoration if the blood is absorbed. Pendleton, Dec. 14. L. C. Pason, wanted on embezzlement charges, has been arrested in Eugene and will arrive tonight in Sheriff T. D. Taylor's custody.
Miners Bert Hughes and Fred Mack filed liens in Tokio seeking to recover 89.65 and 166.55 dollars from Carson Consolidated Mining Company. The report notes unease among Chinese residents over delays in the Japan China treaty and mentions Domara's planned trip to Pekin to discuss matters today.

M C Burchett, a wiper from North Carolina employed by the O R and N, was severely injured Tuesday at Pleasant Valley when an engine moved pinning his leg between the tank and coal chute. Ankle bones broken and flesh lacerated. He is treated by railroad surgeons Bacon and Hall then at Portland hospital likely to stay months. This marks the fifth injury of its kind in a short period.
Abe Hemmel, a lawyer, stands trial in the criminal branch of the supreme court this morning on charges of subornation of perjury connected to the Dodge-Moree divorce. The proceedings began in New York.
