Landmark No More on the Lone Pine Log Yard
On December 5 at the Lone Pine site near Imbler, logs were hauled to a wood yard once marked by the famous Lone Pine. Billings notes Indians questioned the landmark while nine logs ranging 2 feet to 16 inches thick and 12 to 14 feet long were moved, half the tree remaining on a riverbank after a lightning strike years earlier.
