An ordinance forbids selling exchanging or giving away intoxicating liquor within La Grande Oregon. It sets fines from fifty to three hundred dollars and jail terms from twenty five to one hundred fifty days with second offenses punished more severely. It allows sacramental wine medical sales with prescription rules and requires cancellation of prescriptions. The ordinance takes effect January 4 1909 after publication and mayoral approval.
Ex Governor T T Geer is no longer connected with the Pendleton Tribune. Thomas C Warner of Pendleton and John T Dougall of Fort Wayne Ind have purchased the plant and taken possession. Warner becomes business manager and Dougall editor. The paper remains Republican. Geer will live in Portland.
