A severe dust storm swept through the area causing extensive destruction. Buildings, trees, and fruit orchards were damaged, with several warehouses wrecked and power outages lasting hours. Roads were dusted clean later, and the storm even affected rail and farm structures from Pendleton to Milton.
A passenger train near Haines was forced to stop as water rose along the Columbia River. The stormy wind drove debris and feared the train could be swept into the river. One flash was reported injured.
A drunken dispute in North Powder led Murray to stab Will Pearson, wounding him above the heart. Pearson is in serious condition. a trial is planned for tomorrow if he attends. Both men are farmers.

The wire had been down since the previous day’s storm, and neighbors did not notify the company. Carrol was connected to Union via Mr. Couper.
