The Emperor and Imperial family avoided appearing in the horse guards parade in St Petersburg. Grand Duke Nicholas stood in for the Czar as festival crowds filled the streets and authorities kept the public at a safe distance from the procession.
James Bayne, steward of the Avon democratic club, is under arrest charged with the murder of a young woman who died after stabbing injuries. May Wilson, who survived, identified Bayne as her attacker claiming no prior quarrel. Police pursue a "Jack The Ripper" theory.
The Kansas fuel oil pipe line linking local oil fields to markets was formally launched in Cbanate. The committee on organization deemed the scheme feasible and will elect officers today. The pipeline is to parallel Standard Oil of Kansas City's line.
