Madison Wis Sept 26 The Wisconsin Republican platform convention plans a strong Oregonstyle initiative referendum and recall plank with a pledge by legislative candidates to abide by primary results and a Taft endorsement while rejecting Aldrich tariff law as fulfillment of party pledge.
Politicians gathered at Madison propose Senator Thomas Morris of La Crosse as chairman of the platform convention meeting there tomorrow. Morris says he has not been formally informed but would value the honor. he notes that Mr. Ingram has also been suggested as a possibility.
The report notes a senator candidate may pledge the primary vote as morally binding if elected. It asserts no Taft endorsement will occur, but a silent rebuke is possible. Critics argue the Payne Aldrich tariff law falls short of the 1998 National Platform pledges.
