Ed Baxter shot and killed his father in law Harry Smith 50 and Edna Smith 43 and Oscar Smith 16 in Memphis after being refused access to his wife Jessie Smith Baxter. Jessie escaped death and hid, while Baxter fled toward Belt Line tracks. police search mounted.

Oscar Twedt nineteen-year-old son of Mrs Mary Twedt disappeared from the excursion boat Purchase near Dresbach on September 7. His body was found by Walter Fisher and a party of fishermen a mile and a half below Brownsville. No witnesses confirmed whether he fell or jumped from the deck. The case drew many searchers and a $50 reward from his mother. Twedt leaves a large family including sisters Minnie Ida and Mrs J Middling and brother George. Funeral plans have not been announced.
Miss Alvina Portz, a teacher at the Milwaukee Industrial School for Girls, died from wounds inflicted by her sweetheart Herman Lavite, a civil engineer, who shot her at Cedar Lake last week and then shot himself. Lavite survived his self-inflicted wounds.

Vincent Swirlorski, 23, died after a fight with his brother Walter in Milwaukee early Sunday. Swirlorski died at Emergency hospital after daylight from loss of blood though the wound itself was not dangerous. Walter Swirlorski is in custody.
The honor court created by Judge John A. Mahoney freed minor offenders on Sundays with a promise to return for trial. Today it showed greater success than two weeks ago when it first testified, as program results appear encouraging.

Authorities describe a dual personality, one priestly facade and a diabolic side, as clues point to a forged clerical role and motive linked to a pillow slip and a Harlem dealer. Evidence includes the weapon used and a flat Schmidt provided for the victim, with a photograph of Aumuller found there.
