Mauston Soldier Killed on Leave in Highway Crash

Rochester Man Dies After Traffic Crash
Fred J. Giese 73 of Route 4 Rochester died in a hospital after a crash two miles east of Potsdam on Highway 247 in Wabasha County. His car struck a trailer drawn by a farm tractor driven by 11 year old Ronald Charles Rahiman of near Potsdam who sustained only a slight back injury. Giese’s death raised Minnesota’s 1963 traffic toll to 520, 69 more than last year.
