West Salem Wisconsin Dr Edyth Claire Swarthout 81 died Monday evening Sept 10 at her home. A wheelchair user since a 1953 accident she was honored in 1972 for 50 years of service to the community. Born Nov 8 1891 she studied at UW Madison and Johns Hopkins before medical practice in La Crosse. She supported Luther College and Viterbo College with gifts and memorials. Burial is in Woodlawn Sparta with services at the Swarthout home.
