The board of trade plans a five member committee to raise funds for building a Reformed church academy and seminary in La Crosse. A July 4 to Homecoming themed Made in La Crosse Week is proposed for 1914 with Welcome Day to reunite residents and former residents.
The session considered adopting the amended election law revised coupon ballot with county clerk contract approval. A lengthy debate showed split votes until the printing committee favored having Moncena Dunn explain improvements to the ballot and amendments. Dunn addressed the board in an exhaustive discussion after the committee report.
The million dollar elevator system in Milwaukee City Hall failed at noon marooning office holders and clerks above the third floor. Officials expect the lifts to be out of service until Friday as around twenty five thousand people use the elevators daily.
Washington dispatch reports President Wilson plans a late tomorrow departure for a brief vacation stay at Cornish New Hampshire depending on developments today McLean and White House associates expect to finalize the trip President to return to Washington after the respite.
Lieutenant Druschminn, a Russian military aviator, was instantly killed when his aircraft flipped and crashed in St. Petersburg. He fell ninety feet and was buried in the wreckage this afternoon.
In San Francisco on September 10, Federal Judge Van Fleet postponed sentencing of Maury Diggs and F Drew Caminetti until Monday after their conviction for violating the white slavery law was upheld.
An individual escaped across the border from Canada into Vermont during a thaw in New England but was soon recaptured. Authorities reported the escape occurred amid shifting ice conditions and rapid border movement.
Harry K Thaw fled into New Hampshire after being detained by Canadian immigration, driving about 75 miles in a desperate journey through Vermont and Coos county. He was arrested near Stewartstown then held in Colebrook pending New York authorities brief. The Canadians released him later in Overill without arrest or explanation.

William Mullen proprietor of the Imperial hotel was released from Grundy county jail after Governor Dunne commuted his seven month term and $125 fine for an alleged assault with intent to kill on a traveling man at Gardner. He had begun serving the sentence when commutation came due to ill health and he took an appeal in 1912.
The Wisconsin railroad commission announced the largest September schedule with fifty-nine cases already listed for special hearings and at least twenty more slated before month’s end. Major docket details include multiple rail lines and regulatory actions across the state capital.

Nellie Platten a 17 year old from Green Bay dressed as a man and fled from a Northwestern rail car at noon with detectives aiding. Green Bay authorities requested the action and an officer heads to Milwaukee to return her to her parents.
