A head on collision of two express trains on the New York New Haven Hartford line near North Haven leaves twenty one dead and many injured. Rescue crews search smoldering ruins while relatives identify victims in improvised morgue as the disaster's ripple spreads to nearby towns.
New Haven stock opened at 90 percent, fell to 88 percent after a 4 percent drop from the previous close. The 24 hour decline was estimated to equal about 4 million dollars in losses to stockholders.
Identification of Dr. J. B. Marvin, a Louisville physician, and his wife and daughter’s bodies was made as relatives claimed remains in an improvised morgue. Jewelry valued at over 75000 dollars was found on Martha H. Marvin. Coroner Mix released a list showing twenty identified and one unidentified body, with several Philadelphia social leaders among the victims.

Funeral services for Mrs. H. E. Barron who died at 1313 Charles street will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 30 from the Caledonia Street M E church with Rev M E Frazer officiating. Interment will be at Oak Grove cemetery.
The engagement of Miss Edith Rosenwald daughter of Julius Rosenwald Sears executive and philanthropist to German F Sulzberger a millionaire meat packer and top executive at Schwarzschild and Sulzberger was announced in Chicago on September 3.
Miss Minnie Williams of 2603 Cass street married William J. Snyder a University of Wisconsin junior yesterday at Winona. The couple will live in Cedar Rapids until next year when Mr. Snyder resumes his university studies.
Washington September 3. The house approved the Hetch Hetchy bill by a 183 to 43 margin in an afternoon session.
William Howard Taft former president was elected president of the American Bar Association in Montreal on September 3. Speakers including William C. Hook Judge Charles H. Burke and William A. Blount discussed simplification of legal procedures and related causes at the association meeting.
