A blaze on Isle La Plume threatens the island and endangers a nearby woman. Firemen use barges and steamers to fight the fire, aiming to stop it from spreading to the channel building as onlookers watch the dramatic scene.
Bryan declined to discuss the burial of the hatchet but an intimate friend said damage was done in Ohio. He noted Foraker's and Vorys remarks have opened wounds that will not heal and that Foraker's support could influence votes in progressive states including Wisconsin Minnesota Iowa North Dakota Kansas and Nebraska.
