Tomahah Man Co Pilot on Plane Attacks Jap Convoy

Ensign Cleo J. Kube of Wisconsin served as co pilot on a Navy Ventura tasked with attacking a Japanese convoy near the Carolines. Over two days the mission scored multiple hits on cargo ships and a gunboat, with several aircraft shots and a Japanese fighter engagement. The night sortie targeted ships at Satawan lagoon. one gunboat likely sunk and the 1,500 ton cargo ship damaged, while a pursuing Zeke and Tony fighter were driven off.

Man Suffers Stroke Taken to Hospital in City Ambulance

Peter Larson aged 64 of 1925 State Road was found unconscious and suffering a stroke. He was transported to a local hospital by the city police ambulance around noon Tuesday.

Readstown resident Mrs. Preston Carter reports word from her husband Corp. Earl P. Carter that he has arrived safely in New Guinea. Carter entered service January 8, 1944 and trained at Camp Claiborne La. Sgt. and Mrs. George Smith visited from Texas to see his parents Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smith now residents of Soldiers Grove.

Holmen Man Arrives Over There Safely

A cablegram to Mr. and Mrs. Manley Libakken reports their son T. Sgt. Leslie Libakken arrived overseas safely. He sailed from an eastern point of embarkation and was with the signal corps after transferring from Warrenton Virginia. He spent six weeks at Fort Monmouth New Jersey before leaving for overseas duty.

Shooting Man Charged After Mallard Feat at Geneva

Curtis White shot nine domestic mallard ducks with three shells and faced Justice Walter G. Burnberg on seven charges. Farmer Robert Witt testified the birds were tame enough to eat from his hand. White paid a $100 fine.
