Students and coaches fight fires at Onalaska High School
Onalaska Wisconsin fires gutted a journalism classroom in the old building and a biology classroom in the new building as junior varsity players and two coaches quickly helped limit the spread. Firefighters and volunteers battled flames for about three hours with 23 firemen on scene.

In La Crescent Minnesota the 110th anniversary of the United Methodist Church honored Rev Miss Elsie Hartman the first woman ordained a Methodist minister in Minnesota. Hartman celebrated 50 years in the ministry with 36 years active including halls in Hall City and Burke Park and retirement 14 years ago.
