In Vernon county at Stoddard the Sylvan Glen tavern was robbed early Sunday by two armed men who looted about 400 to 500 dollars. Owner Elmer Proksch was shot at and knocked unconscious by the bandits as his wife and son were present. The robbers wore masks and striped overalls, and demanded the cash box after forcing the Prokschs to the floor. The incident follows a spate of robberies in the area over the prior 10 days.
