Worden allegedly intervened in Eckelberg’s assault on his wife and both men had been in Tomah on business. Coroner sheriff and district attorney probe. inquest set in Wilton Tuesday. no arrests made.
Cornelius C. Streit, a white youth convicted of burglary, was whipped twenty lashes at Delaware's whipping post after Governor Miller denied a last minute reprieve. Streit endured the punishment without crying as the cat o nine tails flayed his back, leaving a fiery crimson sting but no blood.
Police chase leads after two hatchet killings in four days. Charles Everett, a local grocer, was slain in his store last night with his head chopped. Cash drawer rifled. Earlier victim J B Richardson, hardware merchant, was killed Tuesday night in a similar manner.
