A man described as a stranger was detained by officers Rick and Thompson after lingering at Yeomen Hall following a concert. He spoke to the police in a disjointed manner while examining a notebook, claimed various residences including Chicago and Higla, and asserted he is a Blacksmith from a tribe. He said he would take six storm window jobs for six dollars daily. police planned further examination before taking action.

A well known local businessman White Freeman flour mill owner died recently and was buried beside his wife in Oak Grove cemetery. Born in Canada and later moving to La Crosse, he built mills in multiple towns and once ran a wig mill in Minneapolis before settling in La Crosse. His service was led by Rev G Rowlison as a Congregationalist.
