Health officer reports Charles Beier was rearrested today for violating quarantine laws. Murphy will prosecute. Indignant health official condemns actions of Beier family who allegedly broke quarantine and assaulted a officer during the incident.
Charles Beier pleaded guilty before Judge Brindley this afternoon and received the minimum penalty of $50 plus costs totaling $54. He seeks to raise the amount to avoid a 20 day jail sentence.
Charles Beier of Chipmunk Coulee released from isolation hospital after smallpox confinement and re arrested on a warrant by Health Officer Anton Murphy for violating state quarantine laws. Prosecutor Murphy, backed by A C Harper, began the case November 3 after Dr Rowles ordered Beier to stay home.
An inquest into the death of Mike Snyder, a Jewish inmate shot by Deputy Sheriff Manuel during an escape attempt, found the deputy acted in self defense. Snyder will be buried by the county.

New York November 15 The Standard Oil of New Jersey declared a dividend of 19 dollars a share for the quarter. John D Rockefeller’s share amounts to 2 500 000 dollars reflecting his stake in the company.
James Howard charged with burglarizing the Mindoro post office on September 24 and Charles Eno charged with wife desertion are to appear before Judge Brindley for trial this afternoon.
Rose Kellogg filed for divorce alleging non support and desertion. The case will be heard by Judge Fruit upon his return from a trip to Sparta.
A license to wed was issued to Miss Anna Mehrer and Peter Graw, both of La Crosse, confirming their marriage license.
The county clerk is granted a $300 annual increase and additional help to boost office efficiency. A coroner will receive $50 more per year, while the sheriff’s petition is rejected. Road improvements are under consideration.

Sparta Wisconsin November 15 The high school football team left town today for Madison where they will play Madison high school tomorrow.
Washington November 15 President Roosevelt will issue a federal proclamation admitting Oklahoma to the United States tomorrow. The move marks a historic culmination for Oklahoma and expands constitutional and political considerations nationwide. Governor Frantz presented the state constitution on October 28 with a large delegation, and Roosevelt indicated the document fits the enabling act terms though not all provisions satisfy him.
Lawyers for John R. Walsh contend the loan limit provision is advisory and that penalties are civil liability only for misapplied funds.
