County to award bids for new highway shop on Highway 16

An army C-45 transport on a routine flight to Washington, D. C. crashed in early morning darkness near Attica Indiana. The remains of Prc. Melvin R. Severson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Severson of 1120 State Street, are en route to the United States for reburial. Severson joined the army in March 1944 and served in Europe from February 1945, training at Fort Bliss Camp Haan Camp Irvin and Camp Gruber. He died in Germany February 21 1946 of diphtheria and is survived by his parents two sisters Mrs Marie Streiff and Mrs Carrick. He was a charter member of the Sons of the American Legion and was affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
