Mediation Set For La Crosse Telephone Bargaining
Union Local 953 and La Crosse Telephone Corp will use mediator Simon Zuicker to resolve 20 month contract stalemate. Talks pause until after mediation sessions Thursday and Friday in La Crosse. Previous contract in 1974 75 provided raises and closed shop provisions despite a 107 day walkout. Local 953 ratified the 1975 agreement 175 to 3.

AP reports multiple strong quakes struck Iran, the Philippines, Greece and Japan over the weekend with a Chinese tremor and an Indonesian volcanic eruption. Iran's 6.2 event near Vandik caused 16 deaths and 32 injuries, while Greece saw minor shocks in Salonika and Mindanao quakes caused no casualties.
