Vandals Blame Harsh Night Crash That Killed Eleven
An auto packed with 12 people plunged from Lincoln Avenue in the Bronx into the Harlem River after vandals ripped out warning lights. Only one passenger survived. 11 died, including four children. Youth Changes Plea To Guilty In Morals Case
A La Crosse youth Ardis L Nelson 19 changed his plea to guilty on indecent liberties with a 14 year old girl. Nelson will undergo a 60 day state hospital examination and return for sentencing January 13 1964. Corning Named Wisconsin Tax Commissioner
MADISON AP George W. Corning 40 was appointed state tax commissioner by Gov John W Reynolds. He succeeds John Gronouski who resigned in September to become postmaster general. Corning has served in the Tax Department since 1955 and led the intelligence division after a Gronouski reorganization.
Wisconsin appoints Corning as tax commissioner
Corning, native of Portage and former Air Corps fighter pilot, named to head the tax department. He will receive 18500 dollars a year subject to State Senate confirmation and serves until July 1, 1965. Corning highlighted his nonpartisan stance and past work on the budget tax bill.
