The services for Mrs. John Halvorson will be held at 602 South Fourth Street Wednesday afternoon at two and at the Norwegian Lutheran church at 2:30 with Rev. H. G. Magelssen officiating and Fessler and Dahl in charge. She is survived by two sisters and two brothers: Mrs. Knut Erickson of La Crosse, Mrs. Alfred Gorder of Onalaska, A. K. Hanson of Rushford, and Gunder Hanson of Stoughton.

The coroner's jury in this afternoon inquest on Walter Jordan, found near Medary, hears evidence from Dr. Egan who suspects a train struck the man. The body shows base skull fracture and multiple rib breaks, with witnesses sworn at William Dwyer’s undertaking establishment.
Clyde Bowen gave himself up to Newaygo county authorities on a charge of murdering his wife near Ensley Center Michigan. The couple had separated and were living apart when they met and began walking home. an hour later the woman's body was found with her throat cut and Bowen's razor nearby. He had been attempting suicide by the same method at his own home when found.
At 3 o clock this morning in Senexa Kansas a posse clashed with four robbers as Marsh al Haskin was shot three times and likely fatally wounded. One robber was wounded and carried away by fleeing companions in a waiting buggy. The robbers fired from a store window as the posse closed in and returned fire in a brief sharp engagement.
A comedian telephoned The Tribune to say Clara Horn and Henry Schurz went to Chicago, but Schurz who is a hospital patient after an earlier injury was to undergo an operation, and the trip did not happen.
Desertion left a Cleveland deputy to face charges with minimal official support. The article notes the deputy acted alone and relied on personal resources to complete duties amid limited assistance from superiors.
Arthur Bolles, a Cleveland deputy sheriff, used a bluff to secure a fugitive warrant in Lanesboro Minnesota. He tracked Charles Schroeder who had deserted his wife and child nine months earlier. Schroeder was arrested, released on bail, then returned to Cleveland with Bolles.
The Supreme Court denied a rehearing in the contempt cases against Sheriff James F. Shipp Deputy Jeremiah M. Gibson Williams Nolan Padgett and Mays and ordered sentencing on November 15. The six men were found guilty of contempt for conspiring to lynch Ed Johnson in Chattanooga Tennessee on March 18 1906. They were convicted by the Supreme Court at the end of 1908 but stayed pending rehearing.
In Bellingham Washington on November 1 a fire gutted three frame buildings on Oak Street. Two people are missing and presumed dead while Mrs Mary Kramer is dying and about six others are seriously injured. Kramer and her two children were trapped on the third floor. she lowered one child to safety with a rope before slipping and falling to the sidewalk.
United States Bank Examiner F. W. Goodhart testified before a grand jury, detailing shortages at the Mineral Point bank totaling about 457000 dollars with deposits around 800000. He cited forged notes, embezzlement since 1893, and said directors were largely to blame. Depositors may get thirty cents on the dollar after assets and Kennedy Mining company funds are accounted.
La Crescent residents visit police seeking if Joseph Kelley in custody for Walter Jordan death at Medary is the same James Kelley who vanished from Houston county twelve years ago. The missing man was over 40. the current detainee is about 26.
