Tomah publisher Les Kenny dies at 69

Les W. Kenny longtime Tomah publisher since 1927 died May 27 after a long illness in a local hospital. Services 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Marys Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Kenny, a Platteville native and UW graduate, built the Tomah Monitor Herald and Tomah Journal into weekly papers, with his son John joining as partner. He received the American Legion honored citizen award in 1961 and a recent boss of the year honor from the Tomah Junior Chamber of Commerce.
