Kefauver probes gambling ring in Miami sting operation

A Kefauver Committee hearing opened at the Federal Building in Miami with swift secrecy and guards. Dunn County Population Drops as Menomonie Rises in 1950 Census

Dunn County shows a population decline of 130 since 1940, while Menomonie rises by 1,602. Dodge County totals fall to 27,245 from 27,379 in 1940, with Menomonie at 8,184 up from 6,582, Beaver Dam up by 447 to 11,833, and Fox Lake, Mayville, and Randolph posting gains of 143, 241, and 205 respectively.

State Study Of Stop-Go Signals In City Sought

The state highway commission will be asked to study installing stop-and-go signals at Fourth and Cass and Seventh and Main as results of a traffic survey committee meeting. They will also review designs for several intersections and consider Fourth street as an arterial. The committee plans to recommend parking and loading changes on Fifth Avenue and Front street, and asks a study of alley loading facilities. Traffic counts will decide on stop and go signals at West Avenue and Market Street if council acts.

North Western Cleared in Crossing Death Inquest

Manitowoc Wis. April 22 inquest absolved North Western railway of criminal negligence in the death of 22 year old Maynard Wachholz. Coroner Dr Theodore Teitgen ruled the crash at Hasserner crossing near Francis Creek was accidental with a southbound North Western 400 passenger train.
