Operation for gall stones on John Hulberg has been postponed from this afternoon to tomorrow morning.
Judge Cronon ordered destruction of gambling equipment seized from gambling houses. Police will burn roulette wheel and card tables as city ordinance requires. City Attorney Doherty advised issuing a written order. date for burning on the market square will be announced soon.
Col. John L. Clem known as Little Johnny Clem, once drummer boy at Shiloh, remains the sole surviving Civil War veteran on active duty among regular officers per the 1909 Army Register. Born in La Crosse, he later served as musician and second lieutenant, now residing in Milwaukee and maintaining local Masonic ties.
