Reds Rout Americans in Southeast Asia Camp Attack
The U S command reported a second Green Beret camp raid 55 miles northwest of Sai Gon by Viet Cong. In a three hour fight Monday night the U S forces drove off the attackers after the Viet Cong destroyed the Nui Ba Den camp and buildings. At least 19 Americans were killed and 24 wounded while U S and allied sources said 25 Viet Cong died.

Gold rose to a London price of $40.30 an ounce at a morning fix before sellers cooled the rally to $40.10. The move came amid the busiest bullion trading since the open of free market in London on April 1, with Paris and Washington prices showing related gains.

Airplane Crash Kills City Pilot Near Marshfield
Lloyd Tilson 51 a past Holiday Aviation manager at La Crosse Municipal Airport died when his twin engine Beechcraft D18 crashed into a house on the outskirts of Marshfield. The plane and home were destroyed. Mrs Tilson and two children reportedly lived at 3121 Maple Drive but could not be reached. Tilson had come from Seattle and earlier worked with Coastal Airways. He was employed by Mid State Commuter and Freight Lines at Marshfield airport and was finishing a local run begun Tuesday Weather delayed him forcing a layover at Fond du Lac. Witnesses said the plane banked left after takeoff engine sputtered and the craft hit a pine tree before striking the Godec home. Mrs Godec escaped unharmed as flames consumed the structure.
