La Crosse Transit gets 25 000 loan and 15 000 grant

La Crosse aldermen approved a plan to help the transit company with a 25 000 loan to cover deficits June 1 to December 31 and a 15 000 grant for deficits December 31 to May 31 1972. If the May 31 deficit exceeds 40 000 the loan is forgiven.

Cave In Buries 3 Workmen At Airport

Three workers were buried when a tunnel wall collapsed at the Dallas Fort Worth Regional Airport construction site during a rainstorm. Eight men were pouring concrete in a 70 foot underground passage when the ditch shifted, five escaped as rescue teams removed shale and concrete to reach the bodies. AP Wirephoto.

Embittered Dohmen couple to return to Germany

Grieving and angry with American justice, Mr and Mrs Peter Dohmen plan to go back to Germany this month. Volker Dohmen, 26, was killed in Long Beach California on May 19 1965 after what authorities deemed justifiable homicide. The parents say Volker fired in self defense not knowing police were present, and that officers shocked by the scene contributed to his death. They accuse officials of misreporting autopsy details and biased coverage while selling their Maplewood home as they prepare to relocate.

DNR Board Delays Transfers Amid District Review

Centennial La Crosse Woman Dies at 99 in Home

Agnes Burzinski Krawczak of 1321 Jackson Street died Monday afternoon May 19 after celebrating her 100th birthday on December 28. Born December 28, 1870 in Poland, she moved to La Crosse with family before age 10 and married John Krawczak in 1891. Survived by four daughters, ten grandchildren, thirty six great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. service Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at Schumacher Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St. Rev. J Floyd Dwyer officiating. Burial Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday. The Rosary at 7:30 p.m.
