A bomb exploded under the double header engines of a Northern Pacific passenger train near Lae, killing one person and injuring others. The attack disrupted service on the line as investigators probe the terrible deed amid reports of a 40 mile clip explosion and a narrow escape for the Flyer’s passenger.
Mont May 2 All the tigers and trainmen on the east floor of the Northern Pacific were blown up near the city. Engineer Busey is believed buried beneath the debris. Two locomotives were seriously damaged and passengers escaped. Carl Lange and Sorge Ehie injured. Fireman Ehie badly scorched. Engineer F W Lenaire recalls the blast as the train ran 49 miles per hour and the engine lifted from the track before overturning.

John Norris of the New York Times testified before the House print paper committee that paper manufacturers falsified labor cost statistics to justify higher prices to newspaper publishers. He cited an approximate 52 cent per ton increase and questioned the labor report accuracy.
