Madison March 27 Gov Strange appoints Marsh Morris and Husting to lead a special senatorial inquiry into Stephenson’s tires after joint reports due April 10. Powell describes past roles and earnings, recounting offers from Stephenson and Cowling and asserting convictions blocked him from selling out.

Schoonhoven of Eau Claire was in the city today and failed on President Elliott of the .W. league. He left town for Eau Claire to assume duties as manager.
City officials fixed salaries to take effect February 1910. Police justice cut to 1000 with mayor noting under ten hours monthly work. Aldermen receive 200 yearly with deductions for meetings. Officials set hours from 9 to 12 and 2 to 5, with summer shorter hours. Alderman Houska approves Vine street plow factory addition. Meeting adjourned.
The funeral of William Galvin former division freight agent on the Southern Minnesota division of the Milwaukee died in St Paul was held at noon today. He arrived on the 12 08 Burlington and the rites were conducted at St Joseph Cathedral. Interment followed in the Catholic cemetery with pallbearers Joseph Goodland John C Burns John Cody George B Fredericks Larry Sherhardt and Dr E A Gotterdam. Galvin belonged to Helena lodge No 193 Elks who assisted with arrangements and flowers. He formerly lived at 420 North Seventh Street and later served as traveling auditor for the Northern Pacific. He was nearly seventy and remembered by many friends in this city.
War den Benham told James and Mary Farmer that they may have a farewell meeting in the men's prison tomorrow morning before their executions for the murder of Sarah Brennan. Mrs Farmer plans to wear a divided skirt to ease the chair’s setup for electroids.
Proofs that Mrs. Russell Culbertson killed herself rather than being murdered by a rival mount as detectives drop the search. A letter to her husband hints at her desire to cast suspicion on Mrs. Ella Longwell of Chicago and reveals jealousy and fear of his affection for the rival.
Gungio Aoki, who claims kin to Gen Aoki, and Helen Gladys Emery plan to obtain a marriage license and wed in Seattle or nearby suburbs. If blocked, they may marry in Tacoma where the mayor says the wedding will proceed. Emery and her mother are registered at the Hotel Savoy while Aoki stays with Japanese friends in the city.
Report from Chicago claimed Margaret Islington wife of Daniel Frohman would come to New York to reconcile with him. Friends denied the report tonight.
Mrs. James H. Boyle, held with her husband for Billy Whitla’s kidnapping, escaped briefly from custody on a B&LE train near Valencia. Sheriff Gumbert recaptured her. she denied being Anna McDermott. Wm. F. McDermott and son planned Mercer arrival to identify the woman.
A La Crosse Republican meeting adopts a platform for the 1908 municipal ticket led by Dr. F. C. Suiter. It calls for tax reduction to attract industry, stronger health department services, expanded public schools, and closer cooperation between city officials, business groups, and private enterprise.
President Tom L. Lewis of the miners union said no date has been set for a conference with anthracite operators to discuss the Scranton convention demands. He noted the next move would be a conference, but none had been arranged.
Report of Ferdinand Pinney Earle’s divorce battle with his wife over Julia Kuttner whom he declares his twin soul. Julia says she loves Ferdinand and that his wife released him to her. Mrs Earle’s divorce filing alleges her husband was a lunatic at marriage and remains so. Earle denies being a lunatic.
Ferdinand Pinney Earle, who wed Julia Kuttner after abandoning his wife, contends with a divorce suit that accuses him of lunacy and questions his prior marriage. Mrs. Earle and their infant child are in New York with her mother while Earle remains at Monroe castle guarded by dogs.
The city Democratic committee plans a two week campaign with meetings every evening. Tuesday opens at Centennial hall with North Side option planned. South Side events include Snow Plow hall Wednesday Rabat's and Minert's halls Friday Bohemian Concordia Saturday, Centennial Monday. Doherty and several speakers are slated to lead events.
Marion Indiana March 27 The jury in the Brown murder trial found Frank Brown charged with the murder of Rosa Ricks guilty of murder in the second degree and fixed his punishment at life imprisonment.

W. W. Benton of Galesville dies at his son David Benton’s home aged 94. A Trempealeau county resident since 1890, he is father of Thomas P. Benton of La Crosse. The funeral will be held in Waverly Ja., after the body is moved there. Mr. T. P. Benton traveled to the town yesterday.
In Ann Arbor Michigan the dual track meet between Michigan University and Chicago A A was canceled due to illness among Chicago athletes. The event was scheduled for tonight and disappointed fans.
Forecasts today show generally fair weather in Wisconsin and Minnesota with increasing clouds and possible rain or snow in extreme west Iowa. Coldest reading is 16 at Havre and 84 at Abilene with lows tonight around 30 at La Crosse and highs near 44. winds 6 mph at 7 am and trace precipitation noted.
