Spring Thaw Triggers Avalanches In Alps
In Courmayeur Italy a spring thaw triggered avalanches in the Italian Alps. An Austrian hiker Florian Ohnmacht 20 a student at the University of Innsbruck was found dead after three hours digging. Six companions escaped. In the Aosta Valley two Italians working on an aqueduct were swept away. Giuseppe Trucca 31 died while another worker freed himself.

Lipovetz founder of 700 Clubs dies at 67
Ford John Lipovetz 67 founder of the National 700 Bowling Clubs of America died at his home Sunday. BWAA honored him with the Rip Van Winkle award last week in Buffalo. Lipovetz helped install 80 chapters in the United States including Alaska and Hawaii. Born in Austria September 10 1895 he taught physiology at La Crosse State College and authored many books. Survived by his widow three daughters and several siblings. See Lipovetz, Page 2

Federal Agency Approves Civic Center Feasibility Study
