Arraignment of 22 year old Mrs Francis Parr on first degree murder charges for the death of her husband in Sparta Wisconsin was delayed to March 30 at 4 pm. Thomas McCaul of Tomah was appointed to defend her by Judge J Bruce Beiltuss. Mrs Parr waived preliminaries and signed a confession alleging repeated beatings by her husband.
Thousands of Communist led workers quit work and filled Milan’s main square in a protest against new government measures to curb order. Similar walkouts erupted in Bologna Ference and Genoa as unions consider a general strike. Police stood by while demonstrators attacked AP photographer James Pringle and seized his camera.
President Truman signed an executive order in Key West to avert a planned Tuesday strike on 12 western railroads. The measure creates an emergency board to examine the dispute between the carriers and the Switchmen’s Union of North America.

Edgar Rice Burroughs of Encino California dies aged 74 after a heart attack. The Tarzan creator left 15 novels unpublished at his death and movie rights reportedly earned him about five million dollars. More than 40 million Tarzan books sold with translations into 56 languages. He was survived by three children and was by them at his bedside.
Details of a large layoff at Electric Auto-Lite due to Chrysler strike effects were to be worked out Monday afternoon by management and union officials. Plant superintendent James V Capicotto announced. Union ballots Friday favored retaining contract seniority and the 40 hour week, though earlier layoff reduced 200 workers last Friday and 100 the prior Friday. The plant employs about 2,200 people.
Frances Fanny Hayes, Rutherford B. Hayes's final surviving child and only daughter, dies at age 82 in Lewiston Maine. Born 1867, she spent childhood in the governor's mansion and at the White House during her father's presidency. Her mother died in 1899 and her father four years later.

In San Antonio at Kelly Air Force Base an explosion damaged the XC-99 wing fuel cell injuring eight workers. Fire crews sprayed carbon dioxide and foamite to control fumes as the left inboard gas tank exploded during maintenance aboard the 4,000 gallon fuel cell. Forty one technicians were aboard the aircraft, the sole air force example of its kind.
Hillsborough County Medical Society officials refused to discuss the closed meeting held to review the case of Dr Hermann N Sander. A brief statement said no comment would be made after a 70 minute session. Dr Norman W Crisp called the gathering a bull session. Dr Sander, acquitted March 9 of murder in the death of Abbie Borreto, attended with about 150 members.
Charles C. Smith, 45, of Dodge, awoke in water after his car rolled off the Burlin railroad bridge into the La Crosse River near Second street. Police say he fell asleep at the wheel, car rested on its top, and he escaped with bruises and two cut fingers as bystanders watched recovery efforts.

An air liner with 52 passengers skidded on an icy Kansas City municipal airport runway Sunday and crashed through two wire fences into an embankment. No injuries were reported. The C-46, operated by Air International of Burbank California, velocity traveled about 30 yards past the runway end.

Two six year old and seven year old boys found a handbag with about 16 891 dollars near Kilbourne Park in Milwaukee. They spent part of the money before police recovered most bills and investigated a woman named Anna Voight who claimed the funds belonged to her family.
Ambassador Philip C denounces McCarthy as utterly irresponsible accusing him of affinity for Communist causes. The Senate panel debated cross examination between McCarthy and Jessup as Tydings urged listing 81 alleged Communists. A closed meeting was planned after applause from about 200 spectators.
