Harry Lancaster of Glendale Wisconsin aged 19 was arrested with Postoffice Inspector E E Fraser and charged with stealing over 50 dollars from F E Baldwin postoffice money orders and a general store. He confessed after bluffing and returned most money with 5 dollars missing. He claims two friends forced him though inspector doubts the tale. He is jailed in Dane County with 1000 bail awaiting sentence.
New York report says Raymond Hitchcock, star of The Yankee Tourist, was dismissed on the charge of wronging Helen Von Hagen. Flora Whiston denied the grand jury testimony and cited Gerry society threats as influence. Perjury charges against Flora were filed as investigators probe the Gerry society.
March 16 report from Port au Prince describes a terror reign with summary killings by the interior minister. Disorder drives civilians to foreign consulates and families flee. An appeal for U S intervention will be sent immediately.
Mrs Emma F Mitchell widow of Alfred G Mitchell died peacefully at home after nearly five months of illness including a cancer operation. Born December 8 1849 in Woburn Massachusetts she married in 1871 and moved to La Crosse in 1876. She belonged to First Congregational church La Crosse Woman's Club and D A R.
General E. C. Butler a former South Carolina senator told the Lilley investigation committee he did nothing wrong to aid Electric Boat. He said he was the company's counsel and spoke to the naval affairs committee in favor of the boats after leaving the senate. A woman mourns her loss, leaving a husband and three children, along with relatives in Washington and at home.

The body of Mrs. Richard O'Gar, once of La Crosse, died in Minneapolis and travelled via La Crosse today to Lansing for interment. She was sister of Mrs. Peter Campbell of 1016 Caledonia Street.
Miss Mary Schmidt, a Black Creek schoolteacher, died in Chicago from blood poisoning suffered after attending a January 23 masquerade ball dressed as Satan. The disguise included pointed shoes, forked tail, and horns, with the fatal poisoning linked to her costume.
