Minnesota House Bills to Raise Driving Age to 16
State lawmakers advance a bill to raise Minnesota's driving age from 15 to 16. Proponents cite maturity and safety, while opponents argue for parental responsibility. An amendment would allow limited 15 year old licenses for farm work near home, with day driving only and night and city restrictions. General licenses would require a training course and adult supervision. Local rural legislators warned of farm hardship, but support remains strong.
